Robert Rasche
Alice S. Wentworth, The Old Mile Road, Wells, Maine
I was born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1959. I grew up on the north shore of Boston, spending much of my childhood at the ocean in Wells, Maine. During my Maine summers, I learned about coastal life, including fishing, sailing, and underwater diving. I started working at a beachside art gallery at the age of 13 and continue to work with designers and gallery owners to this day.
I have been a member of the Art Community since 1971. I began as a member of the Reading, Massachusetts Art Society and participated regularly in local shows. As a student, I won many awards for my work, including a National Gold Medal in Oil Painting from the Scholastic Art Awards program. I attended classes at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. During high school and early college, I was sponsored by a Kennebunkport art gallery that funded the production of 16 limited edition prints of New England scenes depicting coastal life. I was awarded scholarships to attend Syracuse University, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1981. During my college years, I was awarded a Ford Foundation grant, won several school awards for achievement, and had several individual shows. My work has been collected by patrons for over forty years and displayed internationally in private collections and in commercial businesses. I have been a professional graphic artist for over 35 years. My work has been on display at galleries around New England for many years. For instance, several of my paintings have been included in the annual international shows of The Maritime Art Gallery at Mystic Seaport in CT. In addition, my work has been on display at the Sheldon Fine Art Gallery in Newport RI, Wynn-Falconer Gallery in Chatham, MA, Herringbones Design Shop in Ogunquit, ME and Portsmouth, NH, and Framer’s Art Gallery in Wells ME. |
